Bad Breath

Bad breath which is also known as Halitosis refers to the presence of unpleasant odour in the breath of an individual.

Symptoms to look for:

• Unpleasant odour in the breath
• Causes
• Poor dental hygiene
• Tooth decay&gum disease

Causes:

• Bacterial Infection
• Improper diet
• Stress
• Constipation, diabetes, indigestion & liver malfunction

Food groups to consume to get rid of bad breath:

1. Fiber: Keeps teeth clean and stimulates saliva production


Foods to consume: Apples, pears, guava; and vegetables like carrots, cucumbers, radish and bell peppers


2. Vitamin C: Creates unfriendly environment for bacteria

Foods to consume: citrus fruits like lemons, oranges, limes, grapefruits, berries and melons


3. Probiotics: Kills bad bacteria

Foods to consume: Yogurt


4. Chlorophyll: Acts as a natural mouth freshener

Foods to consume: Green leafy vegetables, wheat grass, herbs like cardamom, rosemary, parsley, coriander, mint, fennel and basil

Recipes based on the above food groups:

Recipe 1: Herb marinated chicken in orange juice gravy

1. Place 2 boneless chicken breasts on a plate
2. Add ½ tbsp crushed oregano leaves on it
3. Now add ½ tbsp crushed rosemary leaves
4. Add 2 tsp paprika on it
5. Also add 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh parley

Apply all this very well on the chicken breasts and let it marinate for 30 min

6. Heat 1 tbsp sunflower oil in a deep pan
7. Place the marinated chicken on it
8. Now fry the chicken on both the sides on high heat for 5 min
9. Once the chicken turns brown on both the sides, reduce the
heat
10. Now add 1 chopped carrot in it
11. Also Add 1 tbsp orange zest in it
12. Add 1 cup fresh orange juice
13. Stir carefully and cover the pan with a lid

Let it simmer for 12-15 min, until chicken is cooked and tender

14. Now remove only chicken pieces from the pan and keep
aside
15. Add more ½ cup orange juice to the pan
16. Also add ½ tbsp cornstarch powder to the mixture
17. Keep stirring until the gravy thickens for about 3-4 min
18. Now add the cooked chicken to the gravy
19. Cover the chicken with the gravy
20. Let it simmer for 2-3 min
21. Remove in a serving dish
22. Serve hot with steamed rice



Recipe 2: Wheat grass juice

1. Blend a bunch of wheat grass in a blender with little water
and strain it
2. Then, put 1 orange in a blender
3. Add 1 sweet lime to it
4. Also add 1 chopped carrot
5. Next add 1 apple in it as well
6. Juice them all together
7. Now, mix this juice with the strained wheat grass juice

Tips:

• Avoid foods like garlic, onions, pepperoni & tuna
• Stay away from beer, coffee, whiskey & wine
• Avoid desserts, chocolates & baked foods
